The South African Economy

So I went to Eastgate yesterday at 2pm with 2 friends of mine. The place was packed. Like a public holiday or something. It then struck me, why aren't all these bloody people at work? No wonder the South African Economy is falling to pieces :(

Cmon the petrol price goes up monthly by like 10cents a pop (SA Government just using the whole Katrina disaster as an excuse) and, for example, the cheapest new car you can buy costs you R100 000+ which is well ridiculous even though our currency had been getting stronger.

I seriously think SA should actually sit the f*ck down and revise their economy and sort it the f*ck out and stop using "apartheid" as a goddamn excuse. :(

Also the sad thing is that some South Africans use SA's poor exchange rate to their advantage which f*cks it up even more, the selfish buggers :( I apologise with the profanity in this piece but i feel very strongly about it. I cant really see a future for myself because I'll have to save for 9 years just to buy a car. FFS houses are cheaper to buy then cars these days :( oh wells.

I seriously hope SA does a turn around - and yes I understand it will take a few years, but from what I'm seeing is no progress being made at all.

you may wanna revise your house /car statemnt. i went around looking the otehr day, as i pln to move out in the next 2 years. housing and property i feel have also become victum to this crazy trend of over priced things, that seem to be over priced just to fuck u up the ass, and create an even bigger gap in the socio-economic stances... there is no middle ground anymore, either you're fucking rich and can afford 2,5million for a cramped 2bedroom appartent, or you live with your parents for the rest of your life.

I am slowly starting to hate this country more and more...

everything else you say, i agree with you in so many ways!!!!!!

Well think about this.. BMW M3 is roughly R800 000 brand new out the box. In the USA that would be roughly $20-$30 000. In america houses are more expensive than cars. Cars in South Africa are more expensive then houses.. we not talking about a top-of-the-range house. You can pick up a house for R156000 in Kensington ":/

Sad thing is.. I actually love this country, but wow they sure are making it hard for me to remember why.

Moving into new house on 01 november. A place that sold for 340k in 2002 I have just bought for 525k.

It is insane :(
