My views on SEO

SEO or otherwise known as Search Engine Optimization seems to be the new "fad","fasion" or "craze" but is it likely to end up getting your website banned off Google? Although planning it properly and taking it slow is probably the ultimate way to get a stable and decent PR on Google.

Though some people go too far. EhostPros for example, offering their clients extra bandwidth and space if you add the "Cheap Web Hosting" link to your site.. playing on the keywords approach. I Google'd the keywords "Cheap Web Hosting" and after getting to page 10 of the results, I gave up. It proves to me though no matter how rigorous your compain is, you will never be guaranteed a top spot. It's all magic to me :( Beware of SEO companies that guarantee a #1 ranking. They are more likely to get your site blacklisted from Google then anything else!

The easiest way to getting your site listed on Google is to create a sitemap and submit it to Google's Sitemaps yet another clever Google innovation. It even offers a free program (written in Python) which creates and updates your sitemap as you add content. Enjoy :D
